Udupi: Danger looms at Sanoor Shambhavi bridge due to landslides

Udupi, Jul 19: Heavy rainfall has caused landslides along the roadside near the Sanoor Shambhavi Bridge on July 19.

The National Highway Authority and construction company Dilip Buildcon have swiftly erected warning signs along the affected stretch, urging caution to drivers and commuters due to the compromised road condition caused by the landslide.

The steps leading from the bridge down to nearby homes through cultivated lands have collapsed due to the landslides.

Narasimha Kamath, former president of Sanoor Gram Panchayat, expressed concern that if the landslide continues unchecked, it could lead to significant damage to the road, posing a serious threat to public safety.

If the rain persists in the same manner, there is a risk of further landslides, leading to potential damage and disruption to road connectivity.
