Kundapura, Jul 21: While the country is advancing, modernising, and producing numerous technologists, it’s shocking to see the deplorable condition of basic infrastructure in some remote villages where it’s impossible to even walk on the roads.

Yes, in the Hebri taluk's Madamakki grama panchayat area, identified as a naxal-affected region, the Hanja-Karimane-Edmale road is in complete disrepair. It’s not just difficult to drive vehicles here. Even walking has become an arduous task.

Madamakki, a village on the slopes of Agumbe, known as the 'Cheerapunji of Karnataka', is surrounded by forests. Over the past 10 days, the area has received 250 to 315 millimeters of rainfall.

Due to this heavy rain, the 2.5-kilometer stretch of the rural Hanja-Karimane-Edmale road has completely deteriorated. Around 150 families live in this region, and students and workers struggle daily to reach their schools and workplaces.
