Udupi, Aug 29: Dr K Vidya Kumari, deputy commissioner of Udupi district, has announced that the 'Anywhere Registration System' will be implemented in the district starting September 2, 2024.
This system, introduced in the 2024-25 budget, will allow residents to register documents at any sub-registrar office within the district, rather than being restricted to the office corresponding to the property's location.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, August 29, Dr Kumari explained, “The Anywhere Registration System, which has been successfully operating in Bengaluru since 2011 and recently in Tumakuru and Belagavi, will now be introduced in Udupi. The system aims to increase transparency, reduce delays, and balance the registration workload across all sub-registrar offices in the district, including Udupi, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Shankaranarayana, Byndoor, and Karkala.”
Dr Kumari noted that the new system will enable citizens to register documents at the nearest office or choose one with available slots, streamlining the registration process and reducing congestion. This initiative is expected to alleviate staff workload and enhance overall efficiency.
She also addressed Aadhaar seeding progress, stating that 66% has been completed. “Delays are occurring due to foreign residents not submitting OTPs. Aadhaar seeding is mainly for agricultural land, while other lands are marked as converted. Currently, about 18 lac RTCs have been processed out of 28 lac,” she said.
Regarding the Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards, Dr Kumari mentioned that Udupi has the highest percentage of BPL cardholders, approximately 85%. “We will identify and remove illegally held BPL cards. Government employees will face legal action, and we will also target affluent individuals and IT professionals holding BPL cards,” she added.
The press conference was attended by various officials.
