Mangaluru, Sep 19: RGUHS Mangalore Zone Basketball(M) Tournament 2024-25 was hosted by Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Deralakatte on September 18-19. Fr Faustine L Lobo, designate director, FMCI and administrator, FMHMC inaugurated the tournament on September 18 at the basketball court of the college.
Dr E S J Prabhu Kiran, principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest.
Chief guest Fr Faustine L Lobo in his inaugural address motivated the participants to have a motto of ‘Faster, Farther and Higher’ to be as fast as you can in a race, throw as further as you can and jump as high as you can. He cheered up the players that participation itself is an achievement.
Dr Jeeno Jose, coordinator, sports committee thanked everyone on behalf of the Institution.
The formal inaugural ceremony was concluded with the institution anthem. The programme kicked off with the chief guest shooting a ball into the basket to inaugurate the event.
Eight teams from various colleges of Mangalore zone affiliated under RGUHS participated in the tournament.
Father Muller Medical College won the winner trophy of RGUHS Mangalore Zone Basketball (M) Tournament 2024-25, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences bagged the runner-up trophy, A J Institute of Medical Sciences secured 3rd place and Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College secured 4th place.
Rishabh Bhat, Father Muller Medical College was awarded as most valuable player of the tournament.
Fr Ashwin L Crasta, assistant administrator Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Dr Vilma M D’Souza, vice principal, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College, Dr Dharmendra Kumar, RGUHS sports coordinator, Mangalore zone, Chennakeshava M G, physical education instructor, FMHMC, physical education directors of other colleges, management committee members, students’ sssociation members and students were present on this occasion.
