Mangaluru among 7 coastal cities in India expected to submerge in 75 years

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Oct 14: If one considers the reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) or NASA, Mangaluru might exist for only another 75 years. It is predicted that by 2100, much of Mangaluru will be submerged due to climate change.

The beautiful coastal town of Karnataka is renowned for its culture and arts. However, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, it is on the list of cities at the brink of extinction.

It is estimated to be submerged under 1.87 feet of water, and given these potential dangers, the city's unique attractions are also at risk.

Mumbai

Mumbai, the city in Maharashtra, also faces the risk of rising sea levels as it is a coastal city. Studies suggest that if the global sea level continues to rise at the current rate, a significant portion of the city could be submerged by 2050. Mumbai is vulnerable to severe cyclones and storm surges, which can cause intense flooding in low-lying areas. The increasing warmth of the Arabian Sea is escalating the intensity and frequency of these events. Areas such as Worli, Nariman Point, and Colaba in Mumbai may experience increased flooding.

Kolkata

The capital of West Bengal, Kolkata, is also close to sea level and is surrounded by several rivers. This city is a sensitive area for both sea level rise and river flooding. The Sundarbans and other low-lying areas around Kolkata may face continuous flooding, and a significant part could be submerged.

Chennai

Chennai is also at risk from rising sea levels. The city is in danger due to increasing floods. In recent years, the city has faced severe flooding due to heavy rains and inadequate drainage systems. Excessive groundwater extraction and poor water management practices have contributed to the city's decline.

Puducherry

The Union Territory of Puducherry also faces an existential threat. This area is partly vulnerable to rising sea levels, but human activities like sand mining could pose an existential crisis. This region, known for its cyclones, is at higher risk from destructive storm surges and floods.

Surat

Surat, one of Gujarat's most famous cities, is located on the banks of the Tapi River. The city faces the threat of river erosion and flooding. It is said that the lower part of the city could be completely submerged.

Kochi

The beautiful city of Kochi in Kerala is warned by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that it could submerge by 2.32 feet by 2100. Although it has been an exciting and significant city for the state, rising sea levels and the melting of Himalayan glaciers contribute to the dangerous situation.

1.87 feet of water means nothing to worry; You modify your basement to more than 2 feet and you can live comfortably. Most humans are 5 to 6 feet and they can walk in 1.87 feet of water.

There was an article in BBC in 1974 that there will be another ice-age by the next 50 years i.e. by 2024. I am still waiting as there are two more months to go in 2024. May be this winter, we will see ice-age. There are way too many variables in the nature for humans to predict with high degree of probability. All these climate models are useful in preventing damage to natural eco systems due to human activities. However, alarmist predictions are nothing but hogwash peddled by some global interests hiding behind probabilistic outcomes and projecting them as definitive. We are more likely to die by an asteroid hitting us than climate change. As per NASA, earliest asteroid which will hit earth is predicted to be at least 100 years away.

Answer By Hamsen B Paramahamsa MSc Don't worry, the coast has a super future. Excerpt: The coastal crisis is due to ignorance. With generation change and online debates, it will be evident that rising sea levels are not the cause but the coastal and marine depletion of Flora and Fauna. Also, many vectors on the land directly and indirectly affect coasts, positively and negatively. The measures taken up until now have been detrimental and not protective. The coast is the most productive stretch for multiple industries adjusted to nature. For coastal industries' lifeline is nature. It has marine, brackish, and freshwater products, one growing into the other. Beside the field is a grand and horizontal area that appears endless. Be patient and wait for the change.

Facts hidden by propaganda wings of New World Order - Temperatures are the same in last 5 years or lower but media is showing the maps in Red now compared to in green few years back. More hotter places are getting snow these years compared proving it's not getting hotter. Rapid urbanization with concrete jungles accentuate the feeling of higher temperatures as we are reducing tree cover which prevents surrounding earth getting heated and reflecting it back. Finally it's all computer generated scenarios. I remember Greta Thunberg coming out from a venue getting interviewed by press is it getting hotter while she was shivering in the cold despite wearing woolen clothes, she just giggled and escaped from them , she was handpicked stooge of WEF to market their agendas. If Trump gets elected despite attempts to rigg the elections again then NWO would be postponed for another 20 years.

Human ancestors in Africa were pushed to the brink of extinction around 900,000 years ago, a study shows. The work, published in Science, suggests a drastic reduction in the population of our ancestors well before our species, Homo sapiens, emerged. The population of breeding individuals was reduced to just 1,280 and didn’t expand again for another 117,000 years. “About 98.7% of human ancestors were lost,” says Haipeng Li, a population geneticist at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, who co-led the study. He says that the fossil record in Africa and Eurasia between 950,000 and 650,000 years ago is patchy and that “the discovery of this bottleneck may explain the chronological gap”..... WWW

I am hearing this for the last 75 years, Climate change is big business, the so called "environmentalists" and " green brigades" are fake, they help large companies in making money which runs into billions of dollars. The traditional things are discarded to make way for newer things. Whatever we humans do, nature is greater and knows how to balance things.

These are very vague predictions about coastal cities sinking; with violent climate changes & unimaginable shifts any type of catastrophe is possible, geopolitical tensions between nuclear powers; with the fast advances in AI, ML, drastic climate changes & increasing population man himself will bring an end to his own race (predicted by Stephen Hawking); but by that time man might have the capability to migrate to another inhabitable planet!

Sea levels always have been increased or decreased. Around 15000 years ago coastline was more than 100 kms from its current position. And then, there was a time when sea level was much higher than it's now.

The doomsday predictors had predicted this a few decades back to happen in the year 2000 and it didn't happen. Climate change is caused by nature and not due to human activities which some elites want to control in the guise of fear and panic just like they experimented with Covid protocols. 5 decades back they had predicted world would end with ice age but it never came to pass. All elites like Bill Gates and Barak Obama, Hollywood stars are buying these properties now at a cheaper rates. According to real prediction which is hidden from people is oceans would rise only 1 part of 100th in 200 years. If we see old photos taken 100 years back of statue of liberty and compare it today's picture it has remained the same. Thousands of years back when humans didn't exist the temperatures had risen and only after 1000 years the CO2 rose which gave spurt to trees and plants bringing down the ambient temperatures. Stop felling of trees in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh and in Andamans to extract minerals benefitting a well known industrialist who is very close to present government and reduce pollution in the name of development thereby living with nature and not destroying the same and blaming people for computer generated scenarios just like Covid prediction of million casualties which later proved to be a lie too.
