Mangaluru, Oct 15: A collaborative session was organized by the psychology department and the psychology forum on October 10 on the topic ‘The power of language in psychology for mental health’ to delve into the profound impact of language on mental health. The event featured two esteemed guest lecturers, Disharag Shetty and Rachana Ruthu who shared their insights on the subject.

Disharag Shetty, a PhD scholar currently working as a counseling psychologist and freelance trainer in Mangaluru, focused on the theoretical and practical aspects of language in psychology, while the Rachana Ruthu, currently pursuing MSc psychology from St Agnes, highlighted the significance of yoga and meditation on mental health.

The role of language in psychology

Disharag Shetty provided a comprehensive overview of the role of language in psychology. She discussed how language shapes our thoughts, emotions, and perceptions of reality. Key points covered included:
