Udupi, Oct 21: Asha Fernandes, a mother of two, should be enjoying a fulfilling family life, but instead, she finds herself in a daily struggle for survival. Her daily tasks are challenging, often requiring assistance from others.

Originally from Thottam in Udupi district, Asha has been battling thyroid carcinoma for several months. When her family received her medical diagnosis, they were devastated, especially given their limited financial resources.

With support from loved ones, Asha has undergone surgery and received chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Now, she is set to continue with chemotherapy and immunotherapy every three weeks. However, the cost of treatment over the next year is substantial.

Her husband has already taken out a loan for her initial treatments, but finding the funds for ongoing care is proving difficult. Their financial situation is strained, particularly as they also need to support their two children, who are in 7th and 5th grades.
