Udupi, Nov 4: The family of the late Balakrishna Poojary has demanded that the private hospital where he was treated be named as a third accused party in the Ajekar murder case.
Prakash, Balakrishna’s brother, addressed the media in a press meet on November 4, saying, “Many are attempting to divert this case. Dilip’s father is trying to manipulate the investigation using his influence to secure his son’s release.”
Prakash alleged that the private hospital where Balakrishna received treatment failed to detect any traces of poison in medical tests, despite his declining health. “Balakrishna was admitted to multiple private hospitals, yet none provided a clear report on his condition. The accused, Prathima, did not allow any family members to visit him. The hospital where Balakrishna was treated should be named as a third accused. When we asked police for the postmortem report, they informed us that it would take 90 days to finalize the charge sheet. If Dilip is released, we will protest,” he stated.
Sandeep, the brother of accused Prathima, told the media, “Prathima did not frequently poison Balakrishna. During her daughter’s birthday celebration, I ate the same food and did not face any issues. However, I have been experiencing unexplained nerve issues and body weakness for the past month. I recently underwent a full body checkup and plan to go for further tests.”
Sandeep also mentioned that approximately Rs 50,000 was raised for Balakrishna’s treatment via social media, which Prathima reportedly sent to Dilip. He claimed he was offered money to drop the case but declined, expressing support for severe punishment if guilt is proven.
Balakrishna’s sister, Shashirekha, father Sanjeeva Poojary, and family friend Tharanath Kotian were also present at the press meet.
