New Delhi, Nov 21: Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) launched its Nandini brand milk products in the Delhi-NCR market, with chief minister Siddaramaiah inaugurating the event on Thursday, November 21. The co-operative has priced its milk products marginally lower than competitors.
Amid stiff competition from established players like Mother Dairy and Amul, KMF will retail four cow milk variants, curd, and buttermilk starting November 22. Cow milk will be sold at Rs 56 per litre, full cream milk at Rs 67 per litre, standardized milk at Rs 61 per litre, toned milk at Rs 55 per litre, and curd at Rs 74 per kg, according to KMF officials.
Speaking at the launch, the chief minister highlighted Karnataka's surplus milk production, stating that KMF, along with Mandya Milk Union, would market 3-4 lac litres of surplus milk daily in Delhi-NCR.
“Karnataka ranks second in milk production after Gujarat. The federation collects 100 lac litres of milk daily, of which 60 lac litres are consumed locally, leaving 40 lac litres for expansion into new markets,” Siddaramaiah said. He added that KMF aims to gradually sell 5-6 lac litres daily in the Delhi-NCR region.
KMF chairman LBP Bheema Naik assured that milk quality would be maintained during transit from Karnataka to Delhi. He also noted that the federation has partnered with 40 dealers in the region to facilitate sales.
Animal husbandry minister K Venkatesh and agriculture minister N Cheluvaraya Swamy were present at the launch.
