Puttur, Nov 26: Police have arrested three individuals, including the main accused, in connection with the disposal of the body of Shivappa, a resident of Keremoole, who had gone to work as an assistant mason on the evening of November 16.

A case under the Atrocities Against Dalits Act was registered against three individuals, including Henry Tauro, the owner of the company where Shivappa worked. During the investigation, police detained Stany, a mason, three days ago. Now, they have also taken Henry Tauro, his son Kiran, and assistant Prakash into custody.

Initially, the main accused had not been apprehended, prompting protests by Dalit organizations. Demonstrations were held in front of the police station and near the taluk administration office, led by the Adi Dravi Samaja Seva Sangha. The local MLA also visited the protest site and urged the police to arrest the accused. Following the public outcry, three individuals have now been arrested.
