Mangaluru, Jan 30: MP Capt Brijesh Chowta laid the foundation stone for platform surfacing and shelter at Surathkal and Mulky railway stations on Thursday, January 30.
The Surathkal railway station will be developed at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore, while the Mulky railway station will receive Rs 1.88 crore for its development. In addition to platform surfacing and shelter, the Mulky railway station will also undergo repairs, including improvements to the station approach road.
Capt Brijesh Chowta said, “We are all aware of the challenges faced by the Konkan Railway. When we approached the Railway Minister, he responded positively to the demand for developing Surathkal and Mulky railway stations, allocating Rs 3.63 crore for the project. We have always advocated for the merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways. The railway minister has responded positively to this demand, and the merger will be a historic step—a long-cherished dream and vision of the late George Fernandes.”
He also urged officials to provide updates on the development work every 15 days and directed them to complete the project within three months.
