Bantwal: Cong leader Injured in accidental firing from his pistol

Bantwal, Feb 4: Chittaranjan Shetty Bondala, the vice president of the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee, was reportedly sustained injuries after an accidental firing from his licensed pistol in Anantady village, under the jurisdiction of the Vittal police station, on Tuesday, February 4.

Chittaranjan Shetty has been admitted to a private hospital in Padil.

According to reports, Chittaranjan, who possessed a licensed pistol, had gone to a relative’s house in Anantady on Tuesday afternoon to invite them to a wedding. Finding no one at home, he waited at a nearby jelly quarry office. While there, he was wiping his pistol with a cloth when the trigger was accidentally pressed, causing the firearm to discharge and injure his leg.

Vittal police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. Further details are awaited.
