Mangaluru, Feb 8: Dr M V Shetty Institutions conducted annual athletic meet 2025 on February 5 at Mangala stadium. The event was inaugurated by Prof Dr Hima Urmila Shetty, chairperson, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust. The chief guest was Dr Jayaprakash, principal of Gokarna Natheshwara College. The chief guest received the honour from march past teams and hoisted the flag. With a prayer song the formal programme started.
Dr L Gladson Jose, principal of college of physiotherapy and chief sports coordinator introduced the chief guest and welcomed all. Oath was taken by the teams lead by previous year athletic champion Amal. The chief guest appreciated the director academics Dr Suma S Rai on punctuality in starting the programme, and maintained discipline of students with coordination of principals and staff. Further he said that it was so grand looks like national games opening ceremony. The guest of honour was Dr Divyanjali Shetty, managing trustee, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust.
During the athletic meet, competitions like 100m running race, short put for staff as well as march past, 100m, 200m, 400m,800m and 1500meters running race, 4 X 100m relay and long jump for students, were conducted. Other games like cricket, football, throwball, carroms, chess, and volleyball were conducted earlier in the college grounds.
The programme was concluded with the valedictory ceremony and prize distribution. The students actively participated and showcased their talents in all the events. College of physiotherapy bagged the first place in march past. Second by Institute of professional sciences and management and third by college of nursing.
Principals of the institutions Dr Padma Priya S, College of Nursing, Dr Sathish K, College of Speech and Hearing, Dr Prakasha Amin, Institute of Professional Sciences and Management, Prof Shripriya H, Institute of Allied Health Sciences and Prof Nisha, Leelavathi Shetty College of Education were present. The event was compered by lecturer Dr Vidhya Krishna and vote of thanks by physical director Jayaprasad.
