Musk calls for prosecution over pentagon leak on china war briefing

Daijiworld Media Network - Washington

Washington, Mar 21: Tech mogul Elon Musk has demanded the prosecution of Pentagon officials who allegedly leaked details to The New York Times about his scheduled briefing on US military plans concerning a potential war with China.

In a post on X on Friday, Musk called The New York Times ‘pure propaganda’ and warned that those responsible for the leaks "will be found." His comments came after former US President Donald Trump also dismissed the report, asserting that "China will not even be mentioned or discussed" in any such meeting.

A US official, speaking anonymously to Reuters, confirmed that Musk would receive a high-level briefing from Pentagon officials covering multiple topics, including China. However, the report has sparked concerns over Musk’s role as a Trump adviser, given his business ties with China through Tesla and SpaceX, alongside Pentagon contracts.

The White House has previously assured that Musk would recuse himself from matters involving conflicts of interest. Meanwhile, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has launched an investigation into intelligence leaks, scrutinizing internal chat rooms for potential misconduct.

During Trump’s first term, his administration pursued more criminal investigations into media leaks than any of the previous 15 years, according to Justice Department records obtained by a watchdog group.
