Kundapur, Mar 25: The Tuluveshwara temple in Basrur, Karnataka’s coastal region, has long been a symbol of Tulunadu’s rich folk traditions and cultural heritage. According to the recent Tamboola Prashne (ritual consultation), the temple stands as a testament to the ancient customs of an undivided Tulunadu. Worship of this deity, transcending barriers of caste, religion, and language, is seen as essential for a meaningful and successful life.
For centuries, the worship of Tuluveshwara, Taulaveshwari, and Panjurli daiva, along with other guardian deities, has been deeply rooted in Tulunadu. However, over time, the sanctity of these traditions has diminished. Despite this, the grace of these deities continues to be present in every household through different forms of worship. The discussion at the Prashne emphasized that reviving these sacred traditions would not only benefit Tulunadu but also bring prosperity to every individual associated with it.

It was urged that every individual from Tulunadu should contribute to the revival of this temple. While one person may take the initiative for the temple’s renovation, the divine blessings are meant for all. Before proceeding with the Ashtamangala Prashne, it is essential that this message reaches every person of Tulunadu so they can actively participate in this noble cause and ensure their lasting involvement in the restoration efforts.
To accomplish this, the Tuluworld Foundation, along with various Tulu Kootas and cultural organizations, has been granted permission to set up Tulu Mahasabhas in every village of Tulunadu and in regions where Tuluvas reside. This initiative aims to mobilize efforts for the temple’s revival. The appeal urges everyone to raise awareness about this important mission, contribute to its success, and take responsibility for forming local committees in their respective areas to drive the initiative forward.
