Sullia, May 10: In a significant verdict, the Supreme Court on Friday acquitted all the accused in the murder case of Prof A S Ramakrishna of Sullia.
Prof Ramakrishna was murdered in 2011. The case was tried in the district sessions court, which dismissed the charges in 2016. The state government later challenged this verdict in the High Court, which reversed the lower court’s decision and sentenced the accused to life imprisonment in 2023.

The convicted individuals then approached the Supreme Court, which had earlier stayed the High Court's verdict and granted them bail. After further hearings, the Supreme Court delivered its final judgment on May 9, acquitting all the accused.
The acquitted individuals include Dr Renuka Prasad, Manoj Rai, Nagesh H R, Vaman Poojary, Sharan Mangaluru, and Bhavanishankar.
