Bantwal, Jan 26: “Democracy in the country needs to be strengthened by creating general awareness on voters’ rights,” said JMFC senior civil judge K P Dinesh.

He was speaking after inaugurating an information camp organized under the aegis of taluk legal services committee, Bar Association, and revenue department, on the occasion of National Voters’ Day celebrations held at SJSY auditorium, B C Road, on Wednesday January 25.

Tahsildar T N Narayan Rao presided over the programme. Chief civil judge Srinivas, additional civil judge Nagaraj S Ankasadoddi, Bar Association president Kaje Ramachandra Bhat, and TP chief executive officer Vasantaraj Shetty were the chief guests on the occasion.

Lawyer Ramesh Upadhyaya and lecturer Narayan Bhandary were the resource persons who spoke about the Domestic Violence Act and voters’ responsibilities, respectively.

Deputy Tahsildar Kishor Kumar welcomed the gathering. Town council chief officer R V Jattanna proposed the vote of thanks. Manju Vittal compered the programme.
