Mangaluru, Jul 20: The Ladies’ Association of Bondel unit organized Monsoon Milan on July 19 at 4 pm, bringing together the parish community for an evening of celebration and unity. The programme began with a prayer song, setting a serene tone, followed by the Word of God and reflection by Fr Peter Gonsalves. A heartfelt hymn to Mother Mary, sung by Jasmine and Irene Dias, added a spiritual touch to the evening.
The programme was inaugurated by the dignitaries on the dais in a unique and symbolic manner by unfolding a arecanut flower, reflecting the essence of tradition and nature’s beauty. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by the association president, Avitha Mascarenhas.




















The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests including Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza -parish priest, Fr Peter Gonsalves- principal of St Lawrence English Medium School, Fr Lawrence Cutinha- assistant parish priest, John D’Silva - vice president, and Santosh Misquith - secretary of the parish pastoral council, Manoj Lewis –convener of the commissions.
A special and heartwarming moment of the evening was the surprise birthday celebration of Fr Lawrence Cutinha, who was visibly moved as he joyfully cut the fruit cake specially prepared by the Ladies’ Association members, amidst cheers, blessings, and warm wishes from the gathering.
On the occasion of his birthday, Fr Lawrence Cutinha expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying he felt truly blessed to be surrounded by such a loving and supportive community. He shared, “I am deeply grateful to have a parish priest who pours out his paternal love in every aspect—through prayer, meals, and ministry work. I am also blessed with a wonderful companion in Fr Peter, who always offers his unwavering support. He further added, “I thank God for the precious gift of life. I am truly blessed to have such kind and affectionate parishioners here in Bondel, who continually surround me with their love, care, and prayers.”
Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, in his address, extended his heartfelt wishes to all the members of the Ladies’ Association for organizing such a beautiful Monsoon Milan. He expressed his immense joy in seeing traditions being revived, saying, “It gives me great pleasure to witness the delicacies and dishes our ancestors once lovingly prepared during the rainy season being brought back to life. The current generation often misses out on these traditional tastes and memories. Through this programme, we are not only celebrating food but also reconnecting with our rich culture and heritage.”
He warmly congratulated the Ladies’ Association for organizing this meaningful event and expressed his deep gratitude for their constant and invaluable support in all church activities. He acknowledged their dedication and teamwork, stating that the ladies play a vital role in the life of the parish, and once again congratulated them for their tremendous contributions.
The cultural segment of the evening was a delightful blend of entertainment, dance, and music. A lively dance performance, led by Cynthia Miranda and her group, captivated the audience with its energy and charm. Adding to the festive spirit, a beautiful song highlighting the traditional dishes prepared for the occasion was melodiously sung by the mother-daughter duo, Lidwin and Lanuwin D’Cunha, evoking fond memories of cherished culinary traditions.
The participants were divided into four groups, and a variety of fun-filled games were organized to keep everyone actively engaged and to foster team spirit. The event featured a wide range of activities for children, women, and men, including spot games and team-building challenges.
The games were skilfully conducted by Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza and her team, who ensured the crowd remained energized and entertained throughout. The enthusiastic participation added to the joy of the evening, and winners were honoured during a cheerful prize distribution ceremony, celebrating their efforts and team spirit.
The event was beautifully compered by Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza, who, from beginning to end, kept the energy high and ensured everyone actively participated in the games. Her tremendous enthusiasm and engaging presence entertained the crowd for over four hours, making the evening truly memorable.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Irene Dias, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. The meal prayer was led by Fr Andrew, invoking God’s blessings upon everyone present.
The delicious dishes were lovingly prepared by the enthusiastic women of the Ladies’ Association, showcasing both culinary talent and hospitality. The elegant and eye-catching stage backdrop was designed by Sunitha Lewis, adding charm to the festive atmosphere.
Monsoon Milan 2025 turned out to be a heartwarming celebration where laughter echoed, bonds were strengthened, and the spirit of togetherness was truly alive. All who attended left with joyful memories and gratitude in their hearts.
