Mumbai, Feb 6: It was a day of great joy and celebration for the parish community of Mira Road as parish priest Fr Dominic Vaz celebrated the silver jubilee of his priestly ministry on Sunday February 5.
The celebration began with the Eucharistic banquet as Fr Dominic Vaz thanked God for his protection and vocation to the church. Fr Provincial and many Carmelite friars joined the Eucharist in praying for him.
After the Eucharist the silver jubilarian Fr Dominic, his mother and well-wishers were led through a procession as children of St Joseph school and people expressed their wishes with showers of flowers and silver confetti.
Fr Michael Morris Shenoy welcomed all on this special occasion. Soon afterwards there was cutting of the cake by the silver jubilarian and Fr Archie, the Provincial raised the toast wishing Fr Dominic on his silver jubilee of his priestly ministry.
Thereafter, a cultural programme was held in honor of Fr Dominic Vaz silver celebration. Fr Ivan D’souza presented some video clips showing the life of Fr Dominic Vaz as a priest in which people’s views and wishes were also highlighted. The programme was followed by dances, skits by children, youth, fathers and brothers.
Fr Dominic Vaz thanked all the parishioners and well-wishers for making this day a joyous day for him. In honor of this great day dinner was served to all the people. The cultural programme was compered by Arthur, Br Cannio and nathashia.
