Mangaluru, Sep 11: The inaugural ceremony of Navyarambh – 2025, the PG student induction and orientation programme, was held on September 11 at the YMK Auditorium, YIASCM, Kulur. The programme was graced by chief guest Prof S S Injaganeri, principal of Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management; guest of honour Prof Lourdhu Raj Irudhayaraj, principal, Yenepoya Physiotherapy College; president Prof Jeevan Raj, principal (I/C), YIASCM, Prof Shareena P, vice principal and dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Narayan Sukumar A, vice principal, YIASCM and programme coordinator Dr Niyaz Panakaje, professor, Department of MBA, YIASCM.
The event began with the beats of the traditional chenda, filling the auditorium with a festive spirit. To invoke God’s presence on this auspicious occasion, a prayer song was recited by Ansar Ali, II MBA (DBM), YIASCM.








The chief guest, Prof S S Injaganeri, delivered an inspiring address highlighting what students should aspire to achieve during their two years of postgraduate study. He reminded them that true success lies not in material possessions but in building a name, fame, and strong values. He spoke about nine pillars of value—trust, respect, affection, care and concern, guidance, gratitude, remembrance, glory, and love. His words encouraged students to earn success through merit, sacrifice, and hard work, while reminding them that ‘Work is Worship’ and that time should never be wasted.
The guest of honour, Prof Lourdhuraj Irudhayaraj, encouraged students to trust their choice of YIASCM. Quoting Abraham Lincoln, he said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it,” motivating students to take initiative. He emphasised patience, hard work, simplicity, and recalled Nelson Mandela’s belief that education is the most powerful tool for change.
In his presidential address, Prof Jeevan Raj highlighted the purpose of the induction programme: helping students become familiar with the college environment and its vision. He emphasized the importance of outcome-based education and the Academic Bank of Credits, and outlined three pathways available to students after their master’s degree: placements through YEN Career Connect, research opportunities via YEN Refined, and entrepreneurship through the YUHub incubation centre. He also stressed experiential learning as a key tool to prepare students to become future change-makers.
Prof Shareena P, in her address, emphasised the importance of upskilling and expanding knowledge in the era of artificial intelligence. She urged students to embrace continuous learning beyond their formal curriculum, highlighting that improving skills and acquiring knowledge in diverse areas is essential to stay relevant and competitive in a rapidly evolving world. She stressed that students must proactively explore new technologies, develop critical thinking, and adapt to emerging trends to thrive as competent and versatile professionals in the future.
The programme was hosted by Sri Lakshmi S, assistant professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, who guided the flow of the programme with elegance. A warm welcome was extended by Sahana M, assistant professor, Department of Management and the prorgamme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Srijana Shet, assistant professor, Department of Computer Science. Heads of departments, faculty members, and students graced the programme. The inaugural ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
The inauguration of Navyarambh – 2025 left a lasting impression, filling the students with motivation, clarity, and enthusiasm to begin their new academic journey with confidence and purpose.
