Mangaluru, Sep 30: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of St Peter City Deanery joyfully celebrated the Nativity of Mother Mary with a meaningful community outreach programme titled "Nove Jevan – Nativity celebration with Riya Foundation" on September 28 at the Riya Foundation, a caring home for specially-abled children.
The celebration began with the youth gathering in prayer and thanksgiving, followed by a warm welcome to the residents of Riya Foundation. The programme beautifully combined tradition, faith, and social concern, reflecting the true spirit of the Nativity — compassion, inclusion, and togetherness.

A key highlight was the sharing of the traditional vegetarian meal, Nove Jevan, prepared with love by the different ICYM units of the deanery.
Each unit contributed a dish: Angelore (benda), Paldane (karathe), Vamanjoor (keer and moog), Bajal (idli and sevyo), Bajjodi (sone), Shaktinagar (fresh cucumbers), Kelerai (alu-dento), Nermarga (gosale), Fermai (sango), Bondel (payasa), Kulsekhar (tendli), and Derebail (pickle, juice, and ice cream). The meal symbolised unity and sharing, prepared with utmost attention to hygiene and timely service.
The cultural programme, 'Nove Jevan with Superstars', added joy and liveliness to the celebration. Youth units — YSD ICYM Derebail, STYM Paldane, ICYM Neermarga, and AYM Angelore — presented vibrant dance performances filled with festive spirit. Fun games conducted by Ocheal, secretary of ICYM Neermarga, created laughter and cheerful moments among the children and youth alike.
The programme was graced by the presence of Maria D’Silva, secretary of ICYM Central Council, and Viola Lewis, MIJARC Karnataka coordinator, whose encouraging words inspired the youth and emphasised the importance of outreach programmes in building a compassionate society.
Also present were Fr Lawrence Cutinha, director of ICYM St Peter City Deanery; Rayan Noronha, deanery president; Rayan Lobo, deanery secretary; along with other office-bearers, whose leadership and guidance made the event a success.
Above all, the true joy of the day came from the children of Riya Foundation, whose smiles, energy, and warm presence made the celebration unforgettable. Sharing food, dance, laughter, and fellowship with them gave life to the spirit of Nativity and reminded everyone of the blessings of love and togetherness.
The programme concluded with thanksgiving, leaving behind memories of a celebration where faith met compassion, and tradition embraced service.
'Nove Jevan with Superstars' truly became a day of food, faith, and fellowship, bringing hearts closer in joy and unity.
