Bantwal, Oct 1: The Bantwal taluk unit of Jamiat-ul-Falah will distribute scholarships to 50 underprivileged students and organize a Gandhi Jayanthi quiz programme based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi for invited students on October 2 at the Lions Seva Mandir in B C Road, said unit president Abbas Ali.
Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday evening at the unit office hall in Melkar, he said that the Bantwal unit of Jamiat-ul-Falah, established in 1988, has been consistently motivating thousands of underprivileged students every year by providing scholarships. The unit has also been involved in initiatives such as promoting education for girls, conducting "Back to School" programmes for school dropouts, supporting the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, and creating awareness against dowry.

He further said that since 1988, the unit has been distributing scholarships every year without fail, and this year, along with the scholarships, a training workshop and a felicitation programme for achiever students Sazla Ismail and Fathimat Abeera will also be held.
B M Abbas Ali, president of Bantwal unit, will preside over the programme. The organization’s newly elected district president Ashfaq Ahmad will distribute the scholarships. Guests present will include principal K N Gangadhar Alva, life members of the organization Arif K, B K Abdulla Kunhi Haji of Bairikatte, Zubair of Bulerikatte, and Dr Haseena, senior resident doctor at A J Hospital Mangaluru. Lecturer and state-level trainer Abdul Razak of Anantady will be the resource person, he added.
Unit secretary Hakeem Kalayi, treasurer Latheef Neralkatte, and former president Muhammed Hanif Haji of Goltamajalu were also present at the press conference.
