Bantwal, Oct 1: The 48th Sharada Pooja Mahotsava, organised by Shri Sharada Seva Pratishthana, Kalladka, featured a religious gathering at the premises of Kalladka Model Higher Primary School on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vitla rural cooperative bank president Jagannath Saliyan H.
Delivering the main religious discourse, Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat Dakshina Kannada district joint secretary Latesh Bakrabail said that the present generation is losing its civic consciousness due to lack of cultural values at home. He stressed the importance of creating awareness about swadeshi sentiments, born from pride in the nation’s greatness.
On the occasion, SSLC and PUC students who secured above 90 percent marks were felicitated.



Special honours were conferred on student Jagan and journalist Bharat Raj Kalladka.
In the achievers’ category, entrepreneur Nagaratna Purlipadi and 104-year-old senior devotee Kamala Guruswami Kuntipapu, who has observed the Ayyappa Vruta, were honoured with the ‘Grama Gaurava’ award.
The ‘Shantashree’ award, instituted in memory of K Shantaram Acharya Kalladka, was presented to Bharatanatyam artiste Vidya Manoj in recognition of her service to the field of art.
On the dais were Bantwal taluk bunts association president Jagannath Chowta Badigudde, Baltile gram panchayat president Chandrashekhar Chende, golthamajal gram panchayat vice president Jayanth Gowda Makkar, progressive farmer Mithun Kumar Hosamane and others.
Shri Sharada Seva Pratishthana president Yatin Kumar Eltimar welcomed the gathering, secretary Vajranath Madlamajal proposed the vote of thanks, and Rajesh Kottari Kalladka compered the programme.
