Udupi, Oct 28: The Annual Sports Meet of St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary School, Udupi, was held on October 27 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Hariprasad Rai, a distinguished leader and entrepreneur, presently serving as the secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, who was the chief guest of the day. Other dignitaries present included joint secretary Sr Preethi Crasta AC, superior of St Cecily’s Convent Sr Priya AC, heads of the sister institutions on the campus, and PTA vice president Shamil Quadros.














































The distinguished guests were accorded a warm and graceful welcome as the school band led the procession to the venue. The ceremony commenced with a melodious prayer song by the school choir, invoking the Almighty’s blessings. The principal, Sr Lathika, extended a cordial welcome to all and introduced the esteemed chief guest to the gathering.
Upon declaring the Sports Meet open, Hariprasad Rai delivered an inspiring message highlighting the profound importance of sports in shaping an individual’s life. He emphasized that sports groom a person in three key ways: It strengthens one’s aim in life, it helps one to embrace both success and failure gracefully, It fosters empathy and harmony among individuals in society.
He also enlightened the students about the various opportunities and facilities available to those who excel in state and national-level competitions.
The inaugural programme concluded with heartfelt words of gratitude expressed by teacher Jyothi, the PET of the school.
The formal inauguration was followed by a synchronised and colourful March Past, where each house displayed remarkable discipline, coordination, and unity. This was succeeded by various sports events, in which students participated with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, setting aside their books for a day to revel in the joy and spirit of sports.
The event was ably compered by Rithika Patel and Abigail, both from grade 7, who conducted the proceedings with poise and confidence.
