Mangaluru: New Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union committee takes charge in oath ceremony

Mangaluru, Nov 21: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers of the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Union for 2025–28 was held at the Press Club, Mangaluru, on Friday.

Former president Srinivas Nayak Indaje and former general secretary Jitendra Kundeshwar formally handed over responsibilities to the new committee, comprising president Pushparaj B N, general secretary Rajesh K Poojary, and treasurer Vijay Kotian.

Former office-bearers Anand Shetty K, Jagannath Shetty Bala, and Harsha administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers and executive committee members.

Speaking on the occasion, former president Anand Shetty advised the new team to “strengthen and grow the association further,” particularly as it marks its golden jubilee year.

During the ceremony, the following representatives took oath:

Vice Presidents: Mohammad Arif Padubidri, Wilfred D’Souza, Rajesh Shetty
Secretaries: Suresh D. Palli, Siddiq Neeraje, Satish Ira
Executive committee members: Ashok Shetty B.N., Sandesh Jaar, Sandeep Kumar M., Lakshminarayana Rao, Harish Motukana, Divakar Padmunja, Kiran U. Sirsikar, Abhishek H.S., Jayashree, Bhuvaneshwar G, Sandeep Wagle, Harish K. Adoor, Girish Adpangai, Sandeep Salyan, and Arif Kalkatta.

After assuming charge as president, Pushparaj B N assured the gathering that the new committee would continue the programmes initiated by the previous team. He emphasised the implementation of welfare schemes for journalists, including health insurance support, and the strengthening of taluk-level journalist associations.

Election officer Khader Shah, former office-bearers Srinivas Nayak Indaje, Jitendra Kundeshwar, Harsha, and former state committee member Jagannath Shetty Bala were present on the dais.

Former president Srinivas Nayak Indaje welcomed the gathering. Vice President Mohammad Arif compered the event, while treasurer Vijay Kotian proposed the vote of thanks.
