Mangaluru: National Education Day observed with awareness talk at Govt PU College, Kurnad Mudipu

Mangaluru, Nov 26: As part of the National Education Day 2025 celebrations, the Staff Welfare Committee of Yenepoya Pharmacy College & Research Centre (YPCRC) organised an impactful awareness programme at the Government Pre-University College, Kurnad Mudipu on Tuesday at November 11.

The session aimed at empowering II PUC Science students with a deeper understanding of contemporary educational reforms and future career pathways. The programme featured two insightful talks delivered by experts from YPCRC.

Dr Ayesha Sultana, professor, delivered an informative session on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, highlighting its key reforms, the multidisciplinary approach, flexibility in learning pathways, skill-based education, and its vision for transforming India into a global knowledge hub. Her talk helped students gain clarity on the structural changes proposed under NEP and its relevance to their academic journey.

This was followed by a session on career opportunities by Sandhya V, assistant professor. She guided students through various career options available after PUC Science, spanning health sciences, technology, research, government sectors, and emerging interdisciplinary fields. The talk motivated students to explore diverse academic avenues based on their interests and aptitudes.

To assess the effectiveness of the programme, the organisers conducted a pre-test and post-test MCQ assessment, enabling the students to evaluate their understanding before and after the sessions and few games were orgainsed to keep session engaging by Dr Syed Suhaib Ahmed assistant professor, YPCRC. The results reflected an encouraging improvement in students’ awareness and knowledge. The winners were awarded by Dr Rokeya Sultana vice principal, YPCRC.

The event was well received by the students and faculty of the PU College. The principal, Sumana H C, extended a warm welcome to the resource persons and expressed gratitude to YPCRC for organising such a meaningful educational outreach programme.

The initiative successfully marked National Education Day by promoting informed learning, career readiness, and greater awareness of national educational reforms among young learners.
