Kota (Brahmavar), Dec 6: Preparations are underway at Kota Karanth Theme Park in Kotatattu Grama Panchayat for a model display of the MiG-21 fighter aircraft, aimed at giving students and the public a close-up view and inspiring interest in the Indian Armed Forces.

The initiative, envisioned by MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, is being executed with the support of the union defence ministry. While fighter aircraft displays are currently available only in Shivamogga and Bengaluru, other regions have lacked such exhibitions.

Efforts to establish a display in Kota have been ongoing for over a decade, with approval from the defence authorities taking considerable time. MP Poojary recently secured the necessary sanction following discussions with the defence minister.

Speaking on the initiative, Kotatattu Grama Panchayat president Satish Barikere said, “The Grama Panchayat and the Karanth Trust will oversee the maintenance of the fighter aircraft model display. A 12-member technical team from the Indian Air Force is engaged in preparing the aircraft, and it is expected to be open for public viewing by the end of this month.”

A unique cultural destination

Karanth Theme Park is already renowned for its rich cultural offerings, including art inspired by Mukajji’s dreams, Yakshagana masks of Tenku and Badagu Tittu, sculptures of Koosanna’s cart, a music corner, Karanth’s novels, and a library featuring works of eminent Kannada poets and writers.

For the past 10 years, the park has hosted weekly programmes celebrating art, literature, and culture, making it a hub of creativity and learning.

The addition of the MiG-21 model is expected to further enhance the park’s appeal, providing students and visitors a rare glimpse into India’s military aviation history while promoting national awareness and pride.
