Sullia, Dec 15: Teachers of a school whose students littered the roadside during an educational tour contacted the local gram panchayat and assured that they would personally come, clear the waste and pay the penalty, after a video of the incident went viral. The incident occurred at Sampaje.
On the morning of December 12, students of an educational institution from Beltangady taluk, who were on an excursion, reportedly dumped food waste on the roadside after their meal instead of disposing of it properly. A local resident noticed the act and requested the teachers not to do so, but the group allegedly ignored the appeal and continued their journey.

The local resident recorded the incident and shared the video on social media, following which it went viral. Former gram panchayat president Hameed GK visited the spot and brought the matter to the notice of the authorities.
After the issue came to the attention of the school management, they contacted the gram panchayat and informed that they would arrive on Monday to clear the waste and pay the prescribed fine.
