Mangaluru, Dec 18: St Theresa’s School, High School Section, organised a meaningful drug awareness programme with the aim of educating students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and motivating them to lead healthy and responsible lives. The programme was conducted to create awareness among young minds and to help them face peer pressure with confidence and awareness.
The programme began with a warm welcome and an introductory address that highlighted the growing concern of substance abuse among the youth. The importance of staying informed, alert, and making wise choices was emphasised at the outset.











The school was privileged to host eminent resource persons actively involved in social service and rehabilitation. Shuhail Kandak, founder and chairman of Make a Change Foundation, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of building a drug-free society. He shared his experiences of working towards Nasha Mukth Mangalore in collaboration with the Mangalore City Police, inspiring students to take responsibility for their actions and contribute positively to society.
Guru, founder and managing director of BARC – Born Again Recovery Center, spoke on recovery and rehabilitation. He stressed the importance of seeking timely help and explained how determination and proper guidance can help individuals overcome addiction and rebuild their lives.
The session was further enriched by Beena Saldanha and Tanzil, co-founders of BARC, who highlighted the role of counselling, emotional support, and strong moral values in preventing substance abuse.
The programme was also graced by the presence of Naveen D’ Souza, respected Mangalore City Corporator. His presence underlined the importance of community involvement and collective responsibility in addressing social issues like drug abuse.
The students listened attentively and gained valuable insights into the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of making informed and positive choices. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, school management, teachers, and students for their active support and participation.
The Drug Awareness Programme proved to be informative, impactful, and motivating, leaving students with a strong message to stay away from drugs and lead a healthy and purposeful life.
