Beltangady, Jan 8: The family of Sridhar (36), son of Koragu from Kundaguri in Kaniyooru village, whose body was found in a pond at Pallade in Nayyatharpu village on August 26, has decided to approach the Human Rights Commission, suspecting murder in the case.

Addressing a press conference, the deceased’s brother Shivaprasad said that despite submitting a complaint to the Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police and four months having passed, there has been no progress in the investigation.

He stated that Sridhar’s body had injury marks on the forehead, and the hands and legs were stiff and raised from the body in a rigid condition. Based on these signs, they had lodged a complaint with the superintendent of police suspecting murder. However, when they sought a copy of the FIR, the Beltangady police allegedly refused to provide it, he alleged.

Shivaprasad further said that on the previous night before the body was found, around 11.30 pm on August 25, a person named Mutha, also known as Muthuraj, had called Sridhar’s family and enquired whether Sridhar had returned home. The family suspects that Sridhar was killed and the incident was later portrayed as an accidental death. He alleged that not only Muthuraj but also six other persons may have been involved in the act, and demanded justice for his brother’s death.
