Sahakarnagar, Jan 24: Sahakarnagar police have arrested two accused and solved a robbery case in which a doctor practising within the limits of the Sahakarnagar police station was looted after being lured on the pretext of a medical home visit.
The arrested accused have been identified as Gaurang Kiran Desai (25), a call centre employee and resident of Katraj, and Shubham Umesh Shinde (28), a resident of Kondhwa.

According to police, on January 1, two unidentified persons contacted the doctor over the phone, claiming that their mother was unwell and requested a home visit for medical examination. The doctor was called to Atharv Farihaj Building near a Honda showroom along Pune–Satara Road. When the doctor reached the spot, the accused took advantage of the darkness, threatened him with a knife and robbed him.
The accused decamped with the doctor’s BMW motorcycle, mobile phone, a silver jug kept in his bag and cash, altogether worth ?4,50,200. Based on the doctor’s complaint, a case was registered at Sahakarnagar police station under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A special investigation team conducted a technical analysis and examined CCTV footage, leading to the identification and arrest of the accused. Police recovered stolen property worth ?4,21,740, including the BMW motorcycle, mobile phone, cash and the silver jug.
Further investigation revealed that the accused had used mobile phones and SIM cards from other states to execute the crime. Police said the robbery was committed in a planned and calculated manner, and its successful detection highlights the effective and coordinated efforts of the Sahakarnagar police.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of senior police inspector Vitthal Pawar and police inspector (crime) Jayant Rajurkar, with the participation of PSI Ganesh Karche, PSI Saddam Fakir and police personnel Bapusahaeb Khutwad, Amol Pawar, Chandrakant Jadhav, Kiran Kamble, Nilesh Shivtare, Abhiman Baglane, Sagar Sutkar, Akash Kirtikar, Amit Padmale, Mahesh Bhagat, Yogesh Dhole, Maruti Nalwad and Rafiq Tadvi.
