Puttur: National-level kabaddi player dies after falling from train

Puttur, Feb 10: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old national-level kabaddi player died after falling from a moving train near Channarayapatna in the early hours of Tuesday, February 10.

The deceased has been identified as Nishit Naik, a resident of Punacha. He was an alumnus of Vivekananda College, Puttur, and was working at Kalyan Jewellers in Bengaluru.

Nishit had boarded a train from Bengaluru on Monday night to visit his hometown. According to sources, he was traveling in the general compartment. The mishap is said to have occurred around 2:30 am when he was reportedly thrown out of the moving train.

The body has been kept under the custody of the Hassan railway police. Nishit is survived by his father, who is a retired soldier, mother, and a sister.

A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fall.
