Mangaluru, Feb 20: The Dakshina Kannada Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited (DKMUL) has decided to provide an additional incentive of Rs 1 per litre of milk to its member producers.
This special incentive will be applicable from February 21 to May 31. The decision was taken to support dairy farmers who are currently facing challenges due to the shortage of green and dry fodder during the summer season.

With this hike, the total amount paid for a litre of quality milk will increase from Rs 40.76 to Rs 41.76. This includes the existing incentive of Rs 1.50 already provided by the union.
DKMUL president Raviraj Hegde stated that this move will result in an additional daily expenditure of approximately Rs 4.1 lac for the union. Over the specified period, a total of approximately Rs 4 crore is expected to be distributed to the farmers as a special incentive.
The union's initiative is expected to provide significant relief to dairy farmers in the coastal districts who are struggling with rising cattle feed prices and fodder scarcity.
