Karkala: Fire breaks out in grassland at Sanur; controlled after six-hour operation

Karkala, Mar 11: Personnel from the Karkala fire station successfully extinguished a massive fire that broke out in the Indiranagar area of Sanur village, covering approximately 8 acres of land. The operation lasted for nearly six hours before the flames were brought under control.

The Indiranagar area houses around 300 residences, surrounded by vacant plots covered in tall grass. An accidental fire spread rapidly across the dry vegetation, creating a sense of panic among the local residents for a significant period.

Upon receiving information at approximately 10:30 am, the Karkala fire brigade rushed to the spot. The team put in a strenuous effort to battle the blaze and managed to completely douse the fire by 4:30 pm.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of assistant station officer Chandrashekhar. The team included personnel Achyuta Karkera and Hariprasad Shettigar, along with drivers Jayamoolya, Nityananda, and Basavaraj.
