Moodbidri, Mar 12: A woman who was undergoing treatment for a head injury passed away on Tuesday night, leading her relatives to allege that her death occurred under suspicious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Savitha, wife of Dinesh, a resident of Vidyagiri in Puttige. She had been admitted to the hospital two days ago in critical condition after sustaining a head injury.

According to a complaint filed by Savitha’s relatives at the Moodbidri police station, Dinesh is accused of being responsible for her condition. The relatives alleged that Dinesh would physically assault his wife on a daily basis and claimed that the current injury resulted from such violence.

However, Dinesh, who is reportedly involved in the real estate business, and his two daughters provided a different statement to the police. They maintained that Savitha sustained the critical injuries following an accidental fall.

The death has sparked suspicion among Savitha’s relatives and neighbours. It is noted that Savitha’s mother had also lived with the couple until her passing two years ago.

The Moodbidri police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter to determine the exact cause of death.
