Mangaluru, Mar 12: A grand Ramadan Iftar gathering was organized by Milagres College, at the college auditorium on March 11 bringing together people from different communities in a spirit of unity and harmony.
The programme was presided over by Fr Bonaventure Nazareth, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions. On the occasion, retired principal of Badriya Educational Institutions, Prof Ismail, addressed the gathering and spoke about the significance of Ramadan. He said that Ramadan is a sacred festival for Muslims and it is also the month in which the holy book, the Quran, was revealed to the world. He emphasized that fasting during Ramadan is not merely about controlling hunger, but about staying away from bad habits and leading a disciplined life. He further added that the values learned during Ramadan should not be limited to the fasting period alone but should be practiced in everyday life.













In his presidential address, Fr Bonaventure Nazareth stated that Ramadan is a festival that promotes peace and communal harmony. He highlighted that Milagres Educational Institutions celebrate all religious festivals with equal importance without any discrimination based on caste or religion. He expressed happiness in organizing the Ramadan Iftar gathering and wished for more such programmes in the future.
Among those present at the programme were Dr Alwyn Serrao, principal of Milagres College; Mohammed Ajmal, Karnataka State SSF campus convener; Nausif Hussain, SSF Dakshina Kannada District West campus secretary; Nawaz Naringana, president of Naringana gram panchayat; Melvin Vas, principal of Milagres PU College; Dr Diana Lobo, principal of Milagres Nursing College; Fr Uday Fernandes, principal of Milagres Central School; student programme coordinator Shabil; in-charge lecturer Akash Shetty; special programme coordinator Premal Ria Crasta; and several others.
The event concluded with the Iftar gathering, symbolizing unity, brotherhood, and the spirit of Ramadan.
