Beltangady, Apr 7: In a burglary reported from Ballamanja in Belthangady taluk, unidentified thieves broke into a house and decamped with gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 19.32 lac while the family was away at a temple.
According to a complaint filed at Punjalkatte Police Station, the complainant D Murali (50), an agriculturist and priest, stated that he and his family had left their residence on Sunday evening after locking the cupboards and securing the main door to attend a Brahmakalasha ceremony at the Anantheshwara temple in Ballamanja.

When his family members returned later in the night, they found the front door partially open. On entering the house, they discovered that the bedroom cupboard lock had been broken and clothes were scattered.
Murali, who was informed over the phone, rushed home immediately. Police suspect that the miscreants broke open the front door lock using tools, gained entry, and forced open the cupboards.
