Mumbai, Jul 14: Bollywood actor Govinda has announced his return to the silver screen with his upcoming film Roopa, marking his comeback after a prolonged absence from films.
The actor made the announcement at a press conference on Monday, where he unveiled the project and revealed that he would star opposite newcomer Rani Swarnkar. Besides playing the lead role, Govinda is also producing the film.
Reflecting on the highs and lows of his career, Govinda said he had often been written off by people but had always managed to make a comeback.

"Maybe it was destiny that I was written off many times. People said that now he will not appear in films. I start again. I pray to God that what I have thought and what people cannot think, this film works its magic. This film is especially for youngsters. When they watch it in theatres, I hope they will see their dreams come true. I will not discuss any spirituality in this," he said.
Govinda also spoke about the significance of the number 14 in his life, saying he strongly believes in numerology.
"Fourteen is my lucky number. My name is also based on numerology. I believed in it from a very young age. When I was 14 years old, I was blessed by God. I signed 14 films in a week. Then I enjoyed superstardom for 14 years. Later, I became a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha. After struggling for 14 years, I have returned to films. This is the first time I could not wait for more than five years. I said I would start again, and I hope the new journey begins from here," he said.
Govinda recently appeared on the reality show Lock Upp Season 2, in which his wife Sunita Ahuja is one of the contestants.
During his interaction with hosts Farah Khan and Sunita Ahuja, the actor made light-hearted remarks about his relationship with his wife and referred to the widely reported accidental shooting incident in which he injured his knee.
Speaking on the show, Govinda joked, "This is the Lock Upp everyone can see, but there are many other lock-ups that people don't see. I've come from those."
When Farah Khan jokingly asked why he had allegedly "put out a contract" on himself, Govinda responded in jest, saying he had even brought a bullet in his pocket and quipped that if someone wanted to shoot him, they could do it then.
