Puttur, July 19: A 26-year-old woman who had allegedly attempted suicide by consuming tablets after reportedly expressing unwillingness to marry a man chosen by her family succumbed to her condition after undergoing treatment for 27 days at a private hospital in Mangaluru.
The deceased has been identified as Pragnya (26), daughter of late Heggadesh Gowda and a resident of Mittadka in Bettampady village. She was serving as a Community Health Officer under the Badagannur grama panchayat limits.

According to police, Pragnya allegedly consumed tablets at her residence on June 21 in an attempt to end her life. She was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru, where she remained under treatment in critical condition.
Despite efforts by doctors, she failed to recover and passed away on Friday.
A case has been registered at the Sampya police station, and further investigation is under way.
