New Delhi, Aug 20: Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, who was serving a life sentence in connection with a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, died at a Delhi hospital on Thursday. He was 80.
Kumar was serving his sentence at Tihar Jail and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after his health condition deteriorated. Doctors declared him brought dead.

The Delhi High Court had convicted Kumar for his role in the killing of five people during rioting in the Palam Colony area of Delhi on November 1 and 2, 1984, following the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment on December 17, 2018.
Kumar had challenged the conviction and sentence before the Supreme Court, where his appeal was pending.
Earlier in January, a Delhi court had acquitted Kumar in two cases related to allegations of inciting violence in Janakpuri and Vikaspuri during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Further details regarding his death are awaited.
