Doha, Oct 14: Corporator Lancelot Pinto, who is on a private visit to Qatar was honoured by MCC Qatar for his unselfish, dedicated and exemplary service to the community as a philanthropist and long serving corporator of Mangalore Municipal Corporation and also a dedicated member of the Congress party for the past several years. He has also served as the director of Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank for many years.
Pinto, who not by choice but by chance became a social activist, hails from Bejai, Mangalore. At a very young age he found that he is chosen to serve others and he embraced service with love. There was no looking back since then. Through his selfless service he became well known to all.
A person with down to earth attitude, his hallmark is his humility, simplicity and empathy to the suffering. Pinto is always there for anyone who seeks his help.
Pinto is a corporator of Mangalore Municipal Corporation for the last 29 years. During this time, he has been part of many a projects that have been implemented in Mangalore. Pinto did not sit on these laurels. A land that was gifted to him by one of his well-wisher was transferred to his charitable organization, which shelters needy girls and educates them.
MCC president Sunil D’ Silva lauded Pintos exemplary work for the past three decades and assured MCCs continued support for social causes. Henry D Souza introduced Pinto to the gathering and spoke on the good works and his dedication.
Founder member Jerald D Mello honored Pinto with a shawl and a memento. Pinto in return thanked MCC for felicitating him and lauded the good work of MCC. He invited the gathering to partake in his good work of educating the needy.
During the question answer session, Pinto answered varied questions on the problems people face in Mangalore and the reasons behind them. He also informed about the ways to receive service from the corporation and offered to assist anyone at any time.
