Mumbai, Jul 24: The 60th annual general meeting of metro based Bhandary Seva Samiti was held at Swami Nityanand auditorium, Sion (West) here on Sunday July 21.
The Samiti president Balakrishna Puttur (Pune) presided the meeting here on Sunday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna said that the Nagamandalotsav that was held at the leadership of Kadandale Suresh Bhandary created history that was possible because of unity among Bhandary community.
He congratulated both Suresh Bhandary and advocate S G Bhandary in this regard. A plot of 2 acres has been bought in the vicinity of where Nagamandalotsav was held as its memorial, for the purpose of constructing a building for the Bhandary Seva Samiti.
It would give further fillip to the unity of community that will become a centre of promoting the tradition and custom, spirituality and religiousness. The co-ordinated efforts of office bearers are essential in realizing the dream project, said Balakrishna.
Silent prayers were offered to the departed souls of veterans of community who passed away recently.
The scholarship was distributed to the talented community students during the programme.
The Samiti vice president advocate Shekar S Bhandary, honorary treasurer Pandu C Bhandary, Padmanabha C Bhandary, joint secretary Purushottam M Bhandary, women wing president Lalita V Bhandary, secretary Vanita S Bhandary were present at the dais.
The veterans of community including advocates Sundar G.Bhandary and R.M.Bhandary, Sitaram Bhandary, P.C.Shekar, Karunakar Bhandary, Bhujanga Bhandary, Purushottam Bhandary shared their suggestions on the occasion.
Vijay R. Bhandary renders the prayers. The Samiti honorary chief secretary Prabhakar Bhandary welcomed the gathering. The joint secretary Narayan R Bhandary presented the annual report. The joint treasurer Vijay R Bhandary presented annual accounts.
