Udupi, Feb 3: The Syndicate Bank has donated Rs 10 lac for the repairs of platform at the Railway Station at Indrali here. This was announced in a press release by the Railway Passengers Association.
The present platform at the railway station was erected a decade ago. Since then it has not been mended well. The situation is such grim that passengers cannot stand the platform when it is raining. Even the summer season passengers have to resort themselves to the shade of the nearby trees for shelter since there is roof of the platform.
When the Railway Passengers Association contacted the Syndicate Bank in this regard in the last week. Responding to the request, the general manger of the bank D N Kamat, deputy manager Mohan Kini and Radhakrishna after discussing the problem with R L Dias of Railway Passengers Association released Rs 5 lac on the spot.
They also urged the railway authorities to complete the necessary work within the next 45 days. The Syndivate Bank chairman Kanta Kumar later released the remaining Rs 5 lac on Wednesday February 1.
