9th Get-together
The Juhu Andheri Versova Association (JAVAB), recently held their 9 th get-together at Lokandwala, Andheri West.
Ramesh Shetty, president, lit the lamp and inaugurated the event. Former president Divakar M Shetty was the chief guest, while Shankar B Shetty, immediate-past president, was the guest of honour.
Sudhakar Shetty, president, Bunts Sangha, Vivek Shetty, former president, Lata Bhandari, Jaya Shetty, Tonse Jayakumar Shetty, Umesh Shetty, Vivek Shetty, Kalathooru Vishwanath Shetty, were present as chief guests.
The members as well as their children put up a dance show during the programme.
Endowment Award
Theatre personality, writer and vice-president of Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, Bharat Kumar Polipu, was given the Master K Hirianna Endowment award, by the Karnataka Nataka Academy.
Bharat is a dynamic stage director and has won many awards in the past. Hailing from Polipu in Udupi district, Bharat did his graduation in Mumbai, and works for many associations in the city. He gained popularity in the Nataka Utsav, organized by the Karnataka government in 1998 in Tumkur.
He is also the editor of ‘Sneha Sambanda’, a house magazine of Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai.
25th Annual Meet
The 25th annual meet of the Jagajyothi Kalavrinda, Mumbai, and ‘Jagajyothi Kalavrinda Srimathi Sushila Shetty Katha Mattu Kavya Prashasthi’ was held in the Dr Vishveshwaraiah auditorium at Matunga.
Dr Taltaje Vasant Kumar presided over the programme. Dr Sadananda Shetty, cardiologist, was present as the chief guest.
The ‘Srimati Susheela Shetty Katha Mattu Kavya Prashasti’ for 2005 was given to A S Geeta Kuberappa of Shimoga. Prizes were distributed to the winning teams of Srimathi Susheela Shetty Memorial inter-school competition.
‘Ubar’, a Tulu play, was presented by the members of Jagajyoti Kalavrinda. ‘Bootada Kola’ was presented by Shivananda Kaup troupe.
