Mangalore, Mar 6: Budding filmmaker Abhayasimha, a final year student at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), has been selected to go on a study tour to Cologne in Germany.

He is joined by others who have excelled in other disciplines likes cinematography, sound engineering and editing. The group will be involved in research study along with the students of German International Film School.  It will also produce a telefilm during this fortnight.

Abhaysimha G A, an Arts graduate from St Aloysius College here is the son of Ashokavardhan-Devaki couple of Athree Book Centre in the city.  He has been involved in film-making and other theatre activities right from his student years. 

No wonder then that after his entry into FTII he passed with first rank in both oral and written entrance exams of FTII.  He is the first student from Karnataka to gain entry into the prestigious FTII during the past decade.

Prior to his joining FTII, he had produced a telefilm about Mangalore for a private travel agency of the city.  Moreover telefilms such as 'One Fine Day', 'Mirch Masala', 'Yakshottama', 'Sea Side Story' etc are testimony to his inborn, creative talent.

'Watchout', a silent movie which is part of one of the 3 experimental CDs has also been telecast nationwide by a private channel. The movie is also known a superb piece of performance by noted Tulu actor Navin D Padil.
