The eighth women’s constable batch and the first batch to pass out after the inception of the training centre in the city, took oath on Friday March 10, with additional SP Lokesh Kumar, training centre principal, conducting the oath taking ceremony at the Police Grounds here.
The 137 women constables, who underwent training for a period of 9 months, took an oath to serve the nation overcoming hatred, fear, communal, political and other external influences.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Babu, Western Range IGP, appealed to the women constables to deal patiently and politely with the public. The police department has been labelled to have a bad name for not behaving nicely with the people who approach them for help. To prevent violence on women, more women should join the police force, he added and also complimented that the Indian Police are the most literate in the world.
Present on the occasion were Dr H V Parshwanath, deputy commissioner and B Dayananda, superintendent of police.
