Mangalore, Apr 23: A string of mishaps has been reported on Sunday April 23 from different parts of the district.

Boy dies of drowning effects

Puttur: Irshad (10), who had gone to have a dip in the swimming pool in the renowned 'Bala Vana' on Saturday, the erstwhile abode of Dr Kota Shivaram Karanth, died of its effects in the hospital on Sunday morning.

He hailed from Bettampady near here. His father Ismail is said to be employed abroad.

He had drowned yesterday and fighting for life in the hospital since then.

Hit-and-run case victim run over by several vehicles

Kulur: An identified person was killed in a hit-and-run case on Saturday early Sunday morning near the Reliance petrol pump at Bangrakulur. Many vehicles are suspected to have passed over him thereafter, with the highly mutilated body of the victim was found later.

A string of road accidents

Mulki: A bus and a car collided at Kilpady near here, with three passengers in the car getting injured. The injured have been identified as Anwar Hussein and his two children Shahil and Afril. The lorry driver Guddappa Poojary's rash driving is held responsible for th mishap.

Ullal: A Tempo collided with a motorbike near checkpost at Talapady, injuring both bike-riders - Nizamuddin and Mohammed Irshad, residents of Uppala in Kasaragod.

In Tokkottu, a reversing car hit a pedestrian, Simphrose D'Souza of Tannirbavi, injuring her. Francis D'Souza of Permannur has filed a complaint in the Ullal police station.

Puttur: A KSRTC bus hit a pedestrian Nakkura at Kokkada, killing him on the spot on Saturday. A case has been filed against driver Antony.
