Mangalore, Apr 25 (Tuesday, 4-45 pm): A condolence meeting over the sad demise of Mick Max was organized by Raknno Konkani weekly on Tuesday afternoon in the meeting hall of the Bishop's house here.

Bishop Aloysius D'Souza of Mangalore led a prayer for the repose of the departed soul and also garlanded Mick Max's portrait.

Songwriter Wilfy Rebimbus was the prominent among those to pay tributes. He recalled his long association with Mick Max. It was through a long string of 'Wilfy Nites' that Micky had made a mark as a compere among art-lovers. He described him with examples and incidents as a sincere and dedicated Konkani worker.

Former Konkani Academy president Basti Vaman Shenoy spoke about the Mick Max as he knew. All India Konkani Parishad president Paul Moras described his 30-year-long acquaintance with Mick Max. Academy registrar Dr Duggappa Kajekar spoke of Mick Max's contribution to the working of the Academy while being its member until two months ago.

Raknno editor-designate Fr Francis Rodrigues spoke about Micky's last contribution to the Raknno team by way of compiling and editing a collection of stories 'Nimanno Giraik' (The last customer), which was brought out by Raknno.

On behalf of various institutions and forums, Dolphy Saldanha, Stany Alvares, Claud D'Souza and Edy Netto offered flower petals to the portrait.

Several Konkani artistes and activists, among others, like Benny Teacher, Melvin Peris, Denis Peris, Mike Simons, Dolla (Adolphus Cutinha), Leslie Rego, Macha Milar (Marcel D'Souza), Dr Norbert Lobo, Vishwas Rebimbus, David D'Souza Vamanjoor and J F D'Souza were present on the occasion. 

Titus Noronha compered the meeting and Raknno manager Percy Noronha proposed a vote of thanks.
