Jodhpur, May 9: A Mumbai policeman has been summoned to appear before a Jodhpur Court on Tuesday, in the 1998 Salman Khan Arms Act case.

Sub-inspector Vijay Shankar, who used to work at the commissioner’s office, was the cop who cleared Salman’s license-carrying permit in 1998, even though the licence itself had expired. Mangu Singh, the investigating officer, is also scheduled to appear in court onTuesday.

Salman has been charged under the Arms Act for using a .32 bore revolver and .22 gun even after their licence expired on September 22, 1998. The Mumbai police had extended his licence permit till September 30, 1998.

Where is Shankar?

No one knows where Shankar is. He is the only one who knows all the details of how Salman got the permit.

“The court had called Shankar earlier too, but there was no reply from him. He did not come to Jodhpur despite the court’s notice. If he is not present in court today, there will be a warrant out for him,” said prosecution lawyer NS Sankhla.

“No one knows where is he and if he has retired from his job. He didn’t appear the last time the court called him either,” said Salman’s lawyer Hastimal Saraswat.

Salman has four cases poaching against him — three for hunting and the fourth under the Arms Act.
