New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS): The second monetary instalment for laying interceptor sewers to prevent untreated water flowing into the Yamuna has been released and the project is likely to be completed by March, the urban development ministry said Friday.
The ministry passed the proposal for the Rs.7,128 lakh instalment that would be used to build sewers along the three major drains -- Najafgarh, Shahdara and supplementary -- in the national capital, curbing the pollution levels in the heavily polluted Yamuna.
The approval was given at the recently held meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee.
"The approved cost of the project is Rs.1,35,771 lakh and it is likely to be completed by March 2014," said the ministry in a statement.
